I am not sure if this makes me a geek or not, but I LOVE cover design tools! The ability to quickly and easily make my own 3D boxes, DVDs, Cases, and computer mock-ups, instead of spending $100, makes me happy! :)
But more than that.... I used to be the
guy charging $100, even though I am not the most skillful designer in the world.
When I was doing this, I was using a software that cost me about $100 per year to use... but it was pretty easy, and I could make the money back quickly, so I didn't mind to much.
Well, fast-forward a few years, and starting today, we have a new 3D cover tool that is 100 times better than the one I used, yet I don't have to pay $99 per year.... or even once!
Jimmy Kim has just released PixelStudioFX version 2, and this thing is INCREDIBLE!
Not only does it have your 3D eCovers, so you can bring in a cover design and turn it into a DVD case, or a book, or software box, etc.... but it also has 100s of AMAZING designs for the actual cover that
you turn into a 3D product image!
You simply choose an awesome design... change the text and/or add a logo... and you are DONE!
But it
doesn't end there. For power-users, you can design from scratch, infinitely modify the cover designs with color changes, opacity, shadows, reflections and much more. It even has a TON of icons to add to your designs, as well as backgrounds and more!

The obvious thing is to start selling eCovers to your existing clients. However, eCovers are a BIG deal on sites like Fiverr. So imagine a fiverr gig, where you push 2 buttons and make $5. It really is THAT easy!
But more than that, because of the ability to do the actual cover design with those hundreds of templates.... you can then charge an upsell of $20-30 for the design, and it STILL only takes a couple clicks! These means you could make $25-$35 with about 5 minutes of work!
