I had a new product that I had planned to tell you about today, and it was an interesting one. But I
have decided not to mention it, and I wanted to explain why.
First off, there isn't anything wrong with the product, it's good and many would find it useful. But there is a trust issue that I had with it.
When I got to see the sales page for this, I already knew what the product was, and after I saw the page, I actually had to ask if it was the same product. They used a technique called "Blind Copy". This is where you tease the reader about something, without giving away the secret.
When done properly, it builds interest and can be a very effective sales technique. However, when used incorrectly, it comes across as sleazy, and deceptive, which is how I felt about this.
In this page, the customer is NEVER told what the product actually is, and they make a ton of promises that I really don't think the product will deliver... and it shouldn't deliver those results.
Imagine if I was selling you a mixing bowl, but instead of saying it's a mixing bowl, I claimed it was a kitchen secret that can bring you countless hours of family enjoyment and can make you millions of dollars, and possibly make you a TV star.
Technically, all of those things are true. If you use it to make me brownies, I would get enjoyment. If you used it to make and sell tons of cakes and breads, you could make a million dollars... and Gordon Ramsey uses mixing bowls, and he is on TV, so..... all true!
But is it 'honest'? No, not really. And this is why, right now, I passed on this product.
So, I would like to offer something else to you. Something that isn't going to hide what it is. Something I use for my businesses, and something I know can benefit you.
It's my course called YouTube FastLane. Its a replay of a 4-week, in-depth course we did on how to properly set-up and profit from YouTube. And I thought I'd bring it back out, as someone yesterday asked about it. It includes...
- Proper set-up and optimization of a YouTube channel
- Video SEO, from initial video, through upload and optimization
- YouTube Ads! How to set up and use them effectively
- How to sell this as a service to businesses!
No blind copy, and the only thing dishonest is the well-kept secret that it's actually me in the Santa suit!
