Sunday Special: A Powerful YouTube Utility & A Sunday-Worthy Bonus Pack!
Published: Sun, 01/10/21
Yesterday, I told you bout an interesting YouTube utility that allows you to download
thumbnails from any video... including downloading the animated gif previews that YouTube has.
Well today, I am making it my Sunday Special. And what that means is, you get this awesome little tool, and a honk load of extra bonuses!
In fact, even if you have no interest in this utility (and you should), you will want this just for all the bonuses.
Now, I know that this may not be as exciting as a tool that creates 3D animations, or builds animated websites. However, it is a simple to use tool that does something that I need, and you probably do as well.
Video Thumb Inspector allows you to grab YouTube thumbnails from any video, in a variety of formats, along with the animated gif preview of the video.
Why is this such a great utility? Well, for me... a few reasons
Often times, when I am working on my channels, I need to use the same thumbnail for another video, like a new customer review video. But if I am not at my office computer, I don't have the original. I can, of course, download the thumbnail from YouTube. The problem is that YouTube doesn't give you the original thumbnail. They give you a lower resolution version, with black bars at the top and bottom. Using
Video Thumb Inspector will give me the full version
I often embed videos onto my websites, and I will use a third-party player, like PressPlay. This will give me the option to upload a thumbnail. If the video is someone else's, I won't have access to the thumbnail, so I will need to create one... or more likely, I just won't bother (bad boy!)
The preview gif that YouTube videos have is cool, so being able to grab that and use it in emails, or on a website is pretty awesome, and saves time
Sometimes I want to grab the really good examples of thumbnails that I see, so I can use them as inspiration for my own
All of these uses really make life much easier, and get me to actually do the things I know I should be doing with videos :)
